Contactless payments allow you to tap to pay with your contactless enabled PenFed credit card, debit card and digital wallet.
How it works
You can quickly pay merchants in-store without inserting or swiping your PenFed card – just look for Contactless Symbol and tap your card to pay or use your digital wallet.
Look: Look for the Contactless Symbol at checkout terminal.
Tap: Simply tap your contactless PenFed card or the device with your digital wallet app to the reader.
Done: Confirm the transaction and you are all set.

No. The technology behind tapping to pay requires the merchant to initiate the payment and you must hold your device or card within 1 to 2 inches in order for a transaction to occur.
If you do not see the contactless payment symbol, insert your card into the checkout terminal to complete your purchase.
All PenFed cards offer protection from unauthorized use of your card or account information. While chip technology generates a one-time use code that's difficult to counterfeit, the account information may still be subject to compromise. Notify PenFed immediately of any unauthorized use and know you are protected with Visa's Zero Liability Policy.±
