TYSONS, Va., June 15, 2018 – PenFed Credit Union Executive Vice President and President of Mortgage Banking Deborah Ames Naylor was awarded second place for Executive Leader of the Year as part of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards.
Naylor was recognized for her achievements and outstanding contributions as a business leader and her dedicated above-and-beyond leadership in the community during the past year.
“It is an honor to receive award recognition from the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce,” said Naylor. “I am fortunate that at PenFed, we believe in giving back and supporting our communities, so there are many avenues I can pursue. With so many needs in our communities, it is important to find the causes that resonate with you where you can make a difference.”
“It is a well-deserved honor for Debbie to be recognized so highly among thousands of talented executives in Northern Virginia,” said PenFed President and CEO James Schenck. “Debbie represents the very core of PenFed values, giving back and serving as a leader in the communities in which we serve. When it comes to community service, Debbie is all-in.
In her PenFed career spanning 36 years, Naylor has played a leadership role in serving the greater Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia communities in many capacities. Most recently, she served as chairwoman of the inaugural Women Build for Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. and led the effort to raise more than $600,000—greatly exceeding the organization’s $500,000 goal.
Naylor, who has a Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in business and who is an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP), established a women’s leadership group at PenFed focusing on enhancing the skill sets of other women employees through mentoring, volunteer opportunities and networking. Additional leadership roles include: a supporter of Community Residences, Inc., an organization focused on improving the lives of mentally and physically challenged adults; a member of the Residential Board of Governors; a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association; board member for CU Rate Reset; and a dedicated supporter of the PenFed Foundation, personally helping to raise over $100,000 in the past year alone.
In her long, accomplished career at PenFed, Naylor has served in many roles, including operations and real estate lending and servicing.
Presented across seven categories, the Northern Virginia Chamber Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards honor individuals, businesses and non-profits for above-and-beyond business leadership, employee engagement and corporate social responsibility. This year’s finalists and winners were announced at the Chair’s Luncheon this week.
