Foundation Purpose

The Foundation is organized and shall be administered and operated exclusively to receive, administer and expend funds and carry on programs for educational purposes, within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding provision of any future federal tax law, including, but not limited to, acquire funds and make distribution of those funds to qualified and eligible persons. The United States Army Warrant Officers Association Scholarship Foundation will focus on providing scholarships to qualified members and family members of warrant officers serving in or retired from the United States Army, the U. S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard of the various states and territories. Due to the frequency of relocations many of these family members do not have the opportunity to develop relationships which would result in their gaining assistance in the growing costs of obtaining a college education.

Foundation Establishes “Donor Honor Roll”

The USAWOA Scholarship Foundation has established a Donor Honor Roll on our web site where we will list all individual and organizational donations made to the Foundation.

Symbols are used to designate larger or repeated donations whether in the same or different years. Any single individual donations of $100.00 or more and single organizational donations of $250.00 or more will be designated with a Gold Circle symbol.  Donations of a full annual scholarship ($1,000.00) will be indicated with a Gold Diamond.

We have tried to research all past donations but I am sure we missed some because of the way funds are recorded and posted in single bank deposits.  If we missed anyone please let us know.

Effective 1 January 2008 all donations made will be recognized on this page, with the above amounts designated by the appropriate symbols.

If you have any questions contact us .

Warrant Officers in Afghanistan Support Foundation

by CW4 (Ret) Robert D. Scott

The USAWOA Scholarship Foundation recently received the following letter. This is a great example of the dedication of our members.  Even while serving overseas in much less than idealistic conditions they are thinking about how they can help others. Ladies and gentleman let us all salute the dedication of these fellow warriors who everyday think of others as they serve our country.

“Please accept this donation of $830 for the United States Army Warrant Officer’s Association Scholarship Foundation. On  September 1, 2007 the warrant officers currently deployed to FOB Salerno, Afghanistan organized a USAWOA Scholarship 5/10K Run to raise funds for the foundation. We realize the strains that have been put on the WOA Scholarship Fund due to the consecutive deployments of US Army Warrant Officers. Many Warrant Officers forward deployed wanted to do their part to ensure the Scholarship Foundation remains strong and, more importantly, that USAWOA remains strong. In all, we had over 180 generous runners that participated in the very successful event. I’ve enclosed a money order, a DVD of the event, and a group picture of most of the warrant officers that helped make the event a success. If possible, we would like this enclosed picture to be printed in an upcoming USAWOA Newsliner. I would like to especially thank CW3 Trebat, CW3 Weathers, and CW2 Williams for taking the extra time to organize the event and make it happen. And, I must extend a very special thanks to CPT Pinky Fischer, the 782d BSB Chaplain, for producing the DVD. Respectfully, CW4 Mitchell”

Member and Family Member Scholarship Information

During each year, the USAWOA Scholarship Foundation conducts various fund raising events. Substantial portions of the proceeds are set aside for the scholarship program. From these funds the USAWOA Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships of not less than $1,000 each to deserving and qualified applicants. These scholarships have been funded in the past by the generous donations of CW4 (Ret) John & Jean Allnatt; the Carrie A. Clayburn Memorial Scholarship funded by CW3 Linda & CW4 Myles Clayburn; and a scholarship funded and presented by Pentagon Federal Credit Union on behalf of USAWOA. This Scholarship Program is now totally operated by the non-profit USAWOA Scholarship Foundation.

Allnatt Scholarship Fund - In 2005 the USAWOA Scholarship Foundation received funding from the John and Jean Allnatt Estate as the probate is coming to an end and the attorneys serving as the executor distribute the estate.  The funding received is adequate to fully fund several annual Allnatt Scholarships - see more.

Grantham University Online Scholarships are also available to a limited number of USAWOA Members and their family members on an annual basis.

The window for submission of applications for all scholarships is January 1 to May 1, each year.

See also the Foundation's Scholarship Program Fact Sheet for more information, criteria & application forms for the current year, past scholarship winners, and other resource information.
