USAWOA 2002 Family Member Scholarships

 

Thirteen USAWOA family members were selected to receive scholarships under the USAWOA Family Member Scholarship Program for the school year 2002-2003. Forty-eight family members competed for scholarships. After careful consideration the Scholarship Committee selected the following outstanding applicants to receive $1,000 scholarships under this USAWOA program. Many thanks go out to CW4 (Ret) John & Jeanne Allnatt, CW4 Myles & CW3 Linda Clayburn, the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, and all the USAWOA members who support the Scholarship Fund Raiser which makes these scholarships possible.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

 

Starla Lee Armstrong , winner of the Pentagon Federal Credit Union USAWOA Scholarship. She is the daughter of CW2 (Ret) Joe Armstrong. She is currently attending Ohio Wesleyan University and is majoring in Zoology.

Chelsea Monique Candelaria ,  the daughter of WO1 James Russell. She will be attending the University of California Berkeley and majoring in Political Science and Business.

Brittany Leilani Davis, the daughter of CW4 Mary Czuhajewski. She will be attending Texas Tech or Baylor University and plans to major in Medicine.

Amanda Lynae Carmack, winner of the John and Jean Allnatt USAWOA Scholarship is the daughter of CW2 James Carmack. She will be attending the University of Arkansas in Little Rock majoring in Biology/Pre-Veterinary.

Laura Anne Farnsworth , the daughter of CW4 Luther Farnsworth. She will be attending Lesley College majoring in Early Childhood/Special Education.

Nathan Joel Hodson, the son of CW4 Paul Hodson. He is presently attending Duke University and majoring in Physics and Psychology.

Amanda E. Hrubik,  the daughter of CW5 (Ret) John Hrubik, a Charter and Life Member. Amanda will continue her studies at Bryn Mawr College, majoring in Russian Language with a concentration in Literature.

Laura Ruth Martin, the daughter of CW3 Candis "Candy" Martin. She will be attending the University of Arkansas and majoring in Pre-Dentistry.

Brandi Lea Milloy,  the winner of the Carrie Clayburn Memorial USAWOA Scholarship is the daughter of CW5 (Ret) Bernard "Sonny" Milloy. She is attending Cochise College and majoring in Journalism and Advertising.

Colleen Morgan Murray,  the daughter of CW3 Noel Murray. She plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign..
Erin Tiffany Shirley, the daughter of CW5 Jerry Shirley. She is attending  Rollins College and majoring in Physics and Pre-Engineering.

Roberta Lynn Turner, the daughter of CW4 (Ret) Ralph Turner. She will attend Converse College majoring in Biology and Psychology.
Stephanie S. Viera , the daughter of CW3 (Ret) Pedro Viera. She is attending Villa Julie College and majoring in Nursing.

 

The Scholarship Committee consisted of CW5 Jim Morgan, CW5 Bob Cox, CW5 Carl Jenkins, CW4 Dan Cooper and CW4 Lee Tutin. The committee carefully considered each application and prepared an Order of Merit List using procedures similar to those of an Army Selection Board.

 

 

 In the Fall of 2003 the USAWOA Scholarship Foundation assumed responsibility for USAWOA Scholarships.
